7 Stupid Mistakes Employees Makes

I have worked in many departments within this company, and I now fully understand the mistakes many employees are making that are keeping them back, especially new employees are still on a trial period.

1. Spending too much time on the phone talking with friends and family

Have you ever seen that many employees just don’t care about how much time they spend on the phone. You walk up to a counter to pay your bills and the cashier just continues to talk on her cell phone like your not even there.

The secretary spends more time consulting with family and friends than she does with complaining clients. The boss is also observing your behavior, you will only hear about it when it’s time for evaluation. Another aspect I always admire, why do they have evaluation systems anyway? Many managers only evaluate you based on your last month performance, just before evaluation.

Learn to respect your job, and tell your family members that you will call them back when you have a break.

2. Spends all their time complaining

This is the number one killer in most companies, it is the amount of time the so called top workers spend complaining. They complain about everything, and no matter what you give them to do they find issues to complain about.

The best case I have witnessed, is when one colleague started complaining about her boss and how her boss never appreciates nothing she does. A minute later the boss steps in, and I said well now is your chance to approach him about your issues. She never did.

What’s the use complaining if your not going to face the boss. Spend productive time doing, and when anyone starts to complain just listen, don’t give any advice, you’ll be adding more fuel to their complaint lists.

3. Is never on time for work

The punch schedule of certain employees are so amazing that they don’t have a clue that they are always late. But, they are the first to leave for lunch, and the first to leave at the end of the work day.

If your coming to work late every morning, why not set your clock fifteen minutes ahead of time. That way you can leave on time, just don’t focus your mind on the fact that your clock is fifteen minutes ahead, just rush to leave at the same time you did before every other day.

4 . Complains about their salary is not enough

One employee does nothing but file papers, and they wish to have the salary of an Engineer. They rant all day long they are not paid enough, not ever realizing they signed the contract when they were looking for that job for the salary they now have.

If your complaining that your not being paid enough, then I think it’s time you start a home business. Do something extra to make up for the extra cash you need. Don’t complain about money, that isn’t going to help you.

5. The tail of many chiefs and not enough Indians

Everyone is a manger and everyone is giving commands, but nobody is taking the time to carry out their own functions. Have you seen how one employee has every other employee on that department in the palm of their hands. They get nothing done the right way, because they pass on every assignment they are giving to someone else.

Stop assigning your work and complaining, spend some time doing your own chores and less time chatting with everyone on the department.

6. Not following direct request from their managers

Start studying you manager style of management. You will be surprised to see that once you have figured out your boss, you will be able to deliver everything exactly the way they want and likes it.

7. Not listening enough

Are you a quick draw Mc. Graw, always quick to answer, but never listens. I was and it stunted my personal growth and my attitude showed. I was always good at solving issues, but a very bad listener.

If we would only learn to listen more than we speak, then we would all be moving up the ranks within our company. Stop seeing it as if you work for the manager, your working for the company and doing what’s best for the company will give you many pay raises.

Listen more, and come up with ideas that the company can use to grow. You will be amazed that the complainers never have anything good to say, and can never come up with any solutions. Give a complainer everything the wish, the highest salary and they would still complain.

Just be an active listener, and really observe what everyone else is doing, and you do the opposite. You will be surprised to see how much more your manager will appreciate that new approach.

Give mild criticism, and only do if you have a better idea that will solve the problem at hand. I was a victim of such myself. I had great ideas, but I never had a nice approach and would bring every idea forward in a hostile manner.

Lower your vice, pause when you speak, and present your idea. Act professionally and don’t let anyone intimidate you. Take your time from now on when speaking, listen first and then… pause before you answer.
