I want to leave you with a quote from Robert Holden’s book: Shift Happens…

Today, be what you want.

If you want love, be loving.

If you want peace, be peaceful.

If you want fun, be funny.

If you want “NEW”, be different.

If you want adventure, be open.

If you want success, be alive.

If you want joy, be kind.

I can’t say enough great things about this book, Shift Happens, it is just inspiring, amazing and fun to read over and over again…

Skinny People Live Longer And Healthier Lives

Written by Alex Marlin on October 4, 2007 – 2:28 am -

When I was younger, I used to hate being thin and I wished that I could gain weight, any amount of pounds would have made me happy. I never really understood how healthy it is to be thin, and the benefits we get from being the skinny kid in the neighborhood.

I was teased on a daily basis, and you know what the toughest part was, is being teased by fat kids. It wasn’t until I really got my don’t care attitude and determination that I would not let anyone put me down that I got many friends. I used to focus on who would tease me daily and all I kept attraction was more teasing. When I stopped focusing on kids teasing me, my whole world changed. I was called thin, skinny even grandfather, because of how I wore my clothes. The name calling never used to get to me anymore, because I never responded to what they called me.

It wasn’t until the fourth grade that the name “skinny” stuck and everyone was using that name in a friendly manner, and that is how I became known as skinny. Even today I am called skinny by some of my friends that knew me when I was younger. One even said that we should stop calling you skinny and call you something else. In my mind I was saying, yes, Alex would be fine. Anyway, she wasn’t all that attractive anyway, she was really fat, and my guess is she was trying to polish up for all the name calling she did when she was younger.

Why being thin is so healthy

A couple of weeks back, I got the unfortunate announcement of the death of one my good friends. He was very young to be honest, but he gained a lot of weight and was suffering from high blood pressure and diabetes. He had his toes amputated first and lost a lot of weight and just as he began to put back on a couple of pounds, and just about two years later he was told that one of his legs had to be amputated.

He went into to the Hospital to do the amputation, but he gave up and died a couple days after. It is sad, but the complications of being overweight takes a toll on the body and that is why we thin guys are blessed with long life once we take care of our bodies.

I buried my friend and his two daughter were at the funeral, and while I was there it made me think of the situations that his daughter will face in the coming years, because they were very much overweight and would go through the very same sufferings as their dad.

The strange thing about being overweight is that those parents turn around and feed their kids the same way they were fed when growing up. They will have overweight kids, and the cycle continues. They have seen the problems they faced, but why would they feed their kids in the same manner as they fed themselves.

So why are we feeding our kids to death?

This topic really saddens me as I see how many kids in the world are overweight. The problem stems from parents over feeding their kids. They are fully aware of all the health related problems these kids will have to face, but no one is trying to keep their kids slim and trim.

Is being thin a taboo?

It does seem that way, or do all those chubby kids parents have shares in the fast food franchises. I think we are killing our own kids and it can be helped.

I will be fat because my parents genetics plays an important role

Now, don’t get me wrong here, but this is a load of hog-wash. I do believe genetics shows in your bone structure, but this has nothing to do with the amount of fat on your body. The biggest problem that I have seen is that overweight parents use the genetic word as an excuse for getting away with the over feeding of their kids.

I have witnessed for myself that if you eat every two or three hours you will gain weight. I have proven that by gaining 15 pounds of muscles in just a couple of months. So I am not falling for any genetic excuses.

Have you ever witness how fast a baby grows from birth?

No science needed here, it is due to the fact that a baby eats every two to three hours with absolutely no exercise, and during this period if you over feed that baby they will gain serious weight. If you continue to increase the baby intake and continue to feed them every two to three hours once that kid has passed the age of 18 months, you will be creating a over weight kid.

After a baby learns to sleep through the night you should stop feeding every three hours. And cut back on how you feed the baby. You will see that kid transform into a regular looking kid.

Most of my kids were very fat babies, but as soon as they turned two, I would stop feeding my kids every three hours and cut back to three mails a day, with little yogurt and fruit snacks in between.

You should be proud to be a skinny person

If your feeling bad about your size, please don’t be. Many fat people wish to be thin, but they were fed too much when they were young and have no clue how to loose weight.

As for anyone teasing you, just smile and say in a couple years you would pay anything to be my size. It takes a lot of courage and boldness to face your fears. Being thin is not a problem, just be yourself and ignore your size, it is easier to gain weight than to loose it.

I have seen how easy it is to gain weight, but I honestly don’t like the way my clothes fitted my body when I gained too much weight. So if you honestly want a body make over then start eating, but keep an eye on your goal. Please do some kind of exercise or else you will be building fat.

How I Gained 15 Pounds In Just Six Weeks

Written by Alex Marlin on September 24, 2007 – 3:38 am -

This is from a skinny kid, who always wanted to gain weight, but was scared and didn’t fully understand the concept behind gaining weight. Being thin or small is very difficult, because we are always looked down upon. Many thin friends of mine, still didn’t grasp the part that they will live a longer and much healthier life than most of the over weight folks in the world.

What I did was eat a lot of food, but for nothing good would I put on a pound. It wasn’t until I made my 21st birthday that I realized what I was doing wrong. I will show you exactly how to take that scrawny frame of yours and add 15 pounds of muscle in 6 weeks or less.

Before I do that let me explain to you what took place when I gained weight, I started to really like putting on the pounds, and I continued to eat like a pig. My waist went from a size 28 to a size 34. I honestly started to hate my new look, I didn’t like the size I was, I now weighed more than 165 pounds. I was weighing 125 pounds for years the jumped to 135 and now I was looking huge, but in my eyes I was looking fat. I then had to loose back 15 pounds. I wanted to be just 150 pounds.

Skinny people have a hard time keeping up with eating, because we have a very high digestive metabolism factor to deal with. But, we tend to starve ourselves most of the day, by refusing to eat when we need to eat. You will have to eat, if you wish to add any pounds.

It all worked out fine, because I really understood how to gain weight and at the same mastered the weight loss system I created for myself. I lost the 15 pounds in just two weeks. So, what I want to make clear here is that you will have to set your own weight goal, and measure yourself only once per week.

First to get you on the right track, you will have to get your mind power flowing, and that is doable, all you have to do is tell yourself that you will stick with this routine I will outline here for six weeks and that will help you gain the amount of pounds you desire. It works, I am living proof, and I have grown to love myself even more and so will you.

I do wish that you join a gym or if you have some dumb-bells and a bench at home, this will work also. We will have to get into bodybuilding for those six weeks, because we don’t want to build all fat and no muscles. This routine is very easy, we will be training for 30 minutes per day and just three times per week. Another friend of mines just wanted to gain the weight, he didn’t care about the muscles, he just wanted to look bigger. So that option is open if you wish to do it that way also.

Six Week Training Schedule:

You should train one day on, one day off. So the choice is your to either train on Monday, Wednesday and Friday or Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday.

Day1:

  1. Bench Press - 3 sets max of maximum weight (two warm upset with light weights)
  2. Shoulder Press - 3 sets of maximum weight (two warm upset with light weights)
  3. Barbell Curls - 3 sets of maximum weight (two warm upset with light weights)

Day2:

  1. Leg Press or Squats - 3 sets max of maximum weight (two warm upset with light weights - Squats is best, but I did alternate them)
  2. Seated Rows - 3 sets max of maximum weight (two warm upset with light weights)
  3. Calf Raises - 3 sets max of maximum weight (two warm upset with light weights)

Day3:

  1. Barbell Shoulder Press - 3 sets max of maximum weight (two warm upset with light weights)
  2. Dips - as much as you can do per set (3 sets)
  3. Triceps Press - 3 sets max of maximum weight (two warm upset with light weights)

*** Weight Training Tip To Remember ***

It is not about trying to lift one hundred pounds, it is more about the right movements. So ask someone in your gym to show you the proper exercise routines. And stick with this schedule, nothing more and nothing less. The results will be remarkable. I started lifting just the bar for my bench press , so you got an idea how weak I was. But I gained weight fast, because my eating routine was perfect and they all said that I was on the juice, meaning using steroids, but I don’t recommend that route, I never did. I just wanted to gain weight, I was not into becoming a professional body builder.

Tips For Eating This Much:

Your routine will be to eat between four to six meals a day, that means every two to three hours daily you will have to get something to eat.

What I would advise is to go find yourself some wholesaler to buy your chicken or fish fillet. I bought my boneless chicken breast by the case and stocked my freezer. The next week I would eat fish.

You can mix and match that daily menu to sooth you, but I will give you the full six meals, and your job is to eat at least four of those meals. I used to carry my food with me to work in two little containers, and that is how it fitted perfectly with my schedule.

I used to cook enough chicken in a batch for 3 days, either grilled or stewed. So that my days would not be tied up with cooking.

Daily Eating Routine:

Morning between 6:00 A. M. - 7:00 A. M. - Eat one 4 ounce chicken breast with two slices of bread. could also eat 4 boil eggs with two slices of bread.

9:00 A. M. - 10:00 A.M. Eat one 4 ounce chicken breast with a apple

12:00 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. Eat One 6 ounce chicken breast with a boiled potato and some stewed vegetables.

3:00P.M. - 4:00 P.M. One Banana and a little cup of Apple Sauce. ( I bought those cups of Applesauce that was packed in 4 ounce containers.

6:00 P.M. - (One hour before I go train) - Eat 1/4 cup of raisins and another applesauce.

7:00 P.M. - (Just after Training) - Eat a apple or banana, 1/4 cup of raisins and 1 applesauce.

8:00 P.M. Eat one 6 ounce Chicken breast with a cup of rice and vegetables. This is the last meal I eat for the night.

******* Please make sure that your drinking a lot of water, after each meal drink at least one eight ounce glass of water ******

This routine works, and I know it isn’t easy, because your body will first have to get accustom to eating so much food, start with just four meal and slowly increase until your eating six meals a day. In no time, you will see yourself gaining weight.

One you have reached, your desired weight cut back to just four times per week, that will help you keep the weight you at.

If for whatever reason, you have a hard time meeting the scheduled eating routine, you can get some meal replacement packs from GNC, and use those shakes to replace two of the meals. I did that, when my schedule was very tight.
