chinese health ballsImage by thaisilvestre via FlickrYour final exams are closing in and students from all walks of life are showing many stress symptoms, some don’t even have a clue that it is stress that is causing all their aches and pains. For a student to pass their final exam, they will have to learn how to deal with stress, and this is simpler than it sounds. managing stress should be your first goal, you need to get yourself in relaxation mode or else you will definitely have a hard time focusing, and that would be a sure sign of failure.

A lot of the stress symptoms that these students are facing can also be related to the adopted strict principles that their parents are putting on them. Let me elaborate on this for a moment. During the school year, many parents let their children do as they please, and as the year start gearing up towards exams, they make drastic changes and implement new laws that the children are not accustomed to. I think, that is really hard for your child, and they have no clue how to deal with this, and that brings on more stress.

Many of these children are coping with stress in their own way, and the parents are not trying to clam and relax them, but put on more pressure as to keep them captive and enclosed, as if this will improve their studies. You should have implemented the strict rules during the year, and not towards the end.

Another hard blow that the students facing exams has to deal with are those teachers, who naturally take away the kids chances, and make them face fair and failure head on. No matter how bad it is, I don’t believe no teacher should be putting down their students and telling them that they will fail. Are the teachers their to motivate and help or steal dreams?

The parents on the other should be there showing their children how to deal with stress, and should be doing research online to figure out ways to relieve stress. I know many of you have no clue how to cope with stress and the many ways to deal with stress, so can you picture that your child is even more lost in this stressful world than you are.

To help you and your child relax and get rid of stress, I will give you a couple relaxation techniques that will help you deal with exams stress:

Stress Relaxation Techniques

  1. Believing That You Will Pass - What you think about all day long, is what will come to pass, and you have to keep your mind set on getting that diploma.
  2. Listening To Music - A little music is good for the soul and will help calm the nerves
  3. Relaxing The Mind - Focus on something positive, smile and keep only positive feelings flowing through your mind at that moment, breath slowly and try not to think about the exams.
  4. Peace And Quiet - Find someplace quiet, where your alone, and try to really get some sleep, not getting enough sleep brings on even more stress.
  5. Exercise - This is the best stress reliever that I know, if your mind is focussed and your muscles are active, your body will relax. Try to do some type of exercises, like yoga, tai-chi, kick boxing, stretching, body-building or any type of sports exercise that involves mind body and soul.

All students stress, even the one with high grades, they stress to remain at the top, and is even more scared to loose that spot then the struggling student. Even your parents deal with job stress, but exam stress is a killer, and spotting the signs of stress is of utmost importance.

Spotting The Signs:

  • Concentration problems
  • Not eating
  • Constant worrying
  • Negative traits
  • Tense behavior
  • Sleeping too much or too less
  • Skin problems (discoloration of the skin)
  • Nail biting
  • Headaches (or any type of ache)
  • Constant nagging
  • Cold symptoms
  • Depression
  • Swollen Glands

There are many more, but those will be the easy stress signs to spot, and should help you see the signs and know exactly what to do and how to deal with your child stress symptoms. Here is a great article that deals with managing stress, it covers the signs, symptoms and causes of stress
For me, there is only one way to fail, and that is to not try, go for it, do your exams as if it’s just a ordinary school test. Stop putting emphasis on the fact that it’s a exam. Go out there and break a leg…

Be Your Own Goal

Written by Alex Marlin on February 7, 2008 – 2:56 am -

I want to leave you with a quote from Robert Holden’s book: Shift Happens…

Today, be what you want.

If you want love, be loving.

If you want peace, be peaceful.

If you want fun, be funny.

If you want “NEW”, be different.

If you want adventure, be open.

If you want success, be alive.

If you want joy, be kind.

I can’t say enough great things about this book, Shift Happens, it is just inspiring, amazing and fun to read over and over again…

Fourteen Tips That Will Boost Your Self Confidence

Written by Alex Marlin on January 28, 2008 – 4:36 am -

To become a better person and someone that will be respected in our community, you have to boost your self confidence. Without self confidence your just fooling yourself and it is really easy to spot someone who has no self esteem. A person that doesn’t believe in ones self, can hardly ever convince the world that they are a happy and motivated person.

So today, I want to help you increase your self confidence, and to do that I have created a list of my top points that I consider really important, that will help you go beyond your limited abilities and bringing out the best in you.

Here is my list of fourteen tips that will boost your self confidence:

  1. Believe in yourself - It all starts with your own beliefs, you cannot take this first point lightly. If you wish to be a better person, you first have to learn how to believe in yourself. Study yourself more than you study others, identify your weaknesses and your strengths, improve upon your weaknesses, if needed take a self confidence course.
  2. Stop seeing yourself as a failure - Many of you want better lives, but every time something goes wrong, you blame the reason for failing upon yourself or someone else. Your not a failure, maybe it was your plan that failed or you just made a mistake that caused the whole system to go wrong. As you can see the system failed, not you. If you are blaming yourself for everything that went wrong in your life, you will have to stop that. The most successful people in the world failed many times. Only that one time that they succeeded is what everyone remembers. So stop counting your failures, your only looking for that one moment that you will succeed. Continue to fail and learn from your mistakes. The only one that has never failed is the one who has never done anything and has never accomplished anything either.
  3. Stop doubting yourself - If your going to do something, believe that it will work. Stop the self sabotage before you even get started. You can’t jump on a air-plane thinking that it will crash, because then you would die. So, why do that with any plan or project your trying to get done. Believe that all will work out, and you will be surprised when it does.
  4. Believe in your abilities to accomplish more - Stop saying , no I can’t do this or that. Start saying I have never done it, but I am sure I can get it done. Start believing in your abilities to get things done, start challenging yourself. Stop settling for less, you have the ability to do much more, just push yourself to do things you have never done before.
  5. Stop listening to others - Friends are great to have, but, no one knows your potential, and once you start believing in yourself and pushing yourself beyond your own comfort zone. You will stop listening to others. You need to have the ability to recognize that you can do it, once you put your mind to it. Stop letting people dictate what you can or can’t do.
  6. Organize and reorganize your life - An unorganized person is definitely not a successful person. You have to start organizing your life in such a manner that you become a more effective planner. Keep reorganizing your life until your satisfied with your lifestyle. You have to become a more positive person in and out of your work force, and that starts with a simple little step… take that first step and start today, organize your life.
  7. Become a risk taker - Once your belief grows, you will know that you can accomplish anything you want. And to get there, you will have to start doing what you want. Start taking risk, and stop worrying about the outcome. Nothing will ever be gained until you decide to take the first step. Life is a risk, live it, and the only way to know if you can or can’t is to take bold steps that involves risks.
  8. Become a more creative and bold person - Yes, you have to start showing your creative skills, turn the impossible into possible. Speak out, learn to let people know what your thinking. Start showing people that you have what it takes to make things happen. No sense sitting in the back ground hoping that it would go wrong, become the person that goes for it even if it’s unknown territory. People will start believing in you and you will become that go-to person.
  9. Take the first step - When you belief in yourself is so strong, the first step will be so easy, and that is why you have to start now, not tomorrow. Take the first step, and you will overcome any doubt you have in yourself.
  10. Become a more likable person -Become a magnet to people, make people who you encounter see that your a confident person. Stop trying to please or make people like you, by giving or trying to please. Your self confidence will shine, and people will like you, so don’t try too hard, just build your self confidence.
  11. Think of solutions - A successful person is very much solution oriented, they don’t focus on problems, they understand that problems comes and goes, but you have to learn to focus on finding the solution. The problems you will encounter in life will all seem so easy, because you have your mind set on finding the solution. Stop thinking of problems, think on solutions. There are no problems, it is just that you haven’t found the solution.
  12. Become a better negotiator - Start talking with people, learn how to make conversations with anyone you encounter. Become a leader, and learn how to talk the talk and walk the walk. You have to start communicating on a level where you can show people that your on top of the game. Don’t let anyone outsmart you, negotiate with them. Think on what you wish to accomplish and do just that. When in a strange environment, just approach someone and start a conversation. It is easier than you think, stop trying so hard and thinking on what you have to say, just say something, conversational starters are easy. Once you start that process, then start bargaining with the people your buying stuff from no matter what price they offer, try to beat them down, your now building up your negotiation skills, but you have to first learn how to communicate. Always ask for a lower price, see what they will say, ask and be quiet, wait until they answer.
  13. Start feeling happy and take control -Put yourself in a great mood, don’t let anyone put you down. Smile more and show the world that your alive and living this life. Enjoy each and every day the good Lord gives you. Take control of your life, and do more of the things you like and stop doing the things everyone likes you to do. Life is really short, so live it and enjoy each day with a smile. Don’t ever go to bed angry or in a crying mood.
  14. Become an exceptional person - You have to be a person that lives with great self confidence, the person who isn’t afraid to ask any questions, ask for anything and do the thing most are scared of doing. You have to be someone who is likable and trustworthy. Someone with great prestige and that would open doors you never knew was possible. You will be able to deal with bitter people or difficult people. You will walk with your head in the sky and be truly happy with your life.

To be that self confident person that many dream of becoming is easy, you now have my list of fourteen tips that can boost your self confidence and give you the life of an exceptional person. I will leave you with one mindset, and that should be the mindset you shall live with from today onwards, and that is…

If there was one thing that you could do if you know for certain you would not fail, what would you do?
